    Enhance J2EE skills

I have been working on Java and Swing technologies for couple of years now. Being concentrated on these technologies I could not update my skills on J2EE side. I am thinking of taking break from my current job (2-3 months) and enhance J2EE skills by enrolling to some classes and self study. Is it a good idea? I tried to do it on the job .. but it seems impossible. Break is the only option I see, Please advice.
