Thread: First step in learning QTP

Hi Guys,

I am a fresh graduate, I know the overview of QTP, through reading all the forums. I really want to learn and use QTP. But I don't have any experience yet on how does QTP really works. I really want to study this tool. Can you give me some advise from what should I start first in learning this tool? I am desperate in learning this tool.

where do u stay?

if ur from hyd then u have alternatives:

1)U can get the trial version of the QTP CD and with the help option u can start with.

2)If ur in hyd then its better to join in mindq in Suresh batch(He is master in qtp).

By the way, I am from the Phillipines and newly employed in an IT company "safeway philtech". We run both automated and manual testing - an end user testing.

My overview with QTP are?:

- QTP can run into SAP, .net, ERP application, etc. which winrunner cannot handle.
- same testing process with winrunner records, debug, run test, analyze results, then reports. ( but also I don't have any experience yet with winrunner - I just knew this informations through reading our forums)

My Skills:

RTT - regression test tool an automated testing tool which use to test POS systems IBM 4690 store system.
- The goal of this product is to relieve QA and software development staff from repetitious, time consuming and error-prone manual testing. It is designed for ease-of-use, reliability and fault tolerance, rather than complexity, and to encourage and facilitate regression and unit testing.
- These tool cannot perform all tests, but can perform most terminal operations.

With that, I just want to explore more in Software Quality assurance field that is why I want to learn a hard core testing tool like QTP, winrunner, test director, load runner, etc.. Can you help me and give me some advises for me start first in learning these tools?

hi thanks for ur suggestion. but right now im in mumbai can u tell me r ther any good and economical institutes wer i can learn QTP. actually till nw i worked in manual only. now i wll be moved into automation also. so plz let me knw abt this. thanks

You mentioned RTT for 4690 OS. It seems as though Toprex has dropped this product. Do you know anything about its status or where I can find information on it?
