Lateral thinking
Hi all,
I heard this question some time back. But could not get an answer :( Can someone help me with the answer? The question is:
A man is returning from some place (say Switzerland) in a train. If he travels in a non-smoking compartment he'll die...
Hint: He has had an eye operation before returning....
Why could that be?

Re: Lateral thinking
My wild guess is this, goin by the HINT
Since, he has just got an eye operation, he probably would be advised against exposing his to bright light... a smoke compartment would help him avoid that. I am sure there would a better reply as well, but this is my two penny of thought... ;)

Re: Lateral thinking
The answer is as given below:
The man used to be blind; he's now returning from an eye operation which restored his sight. He's spent all his money on the operation, so when the train (which has no internal lighting) goes through a tunnel he at first thinks he's gone blind again and almost decides to kill himself. Fortunately, the light of the cigarettes people are smoking convinces him that he can still see.
I got this answer from this link:

Re: Lateral thinking
It does'nt mean that having eye operation means the person must have been blind before.....the answer is wrong.......Even to increase the power they do operations....:confused:
