what is Marker interface?give Examples?

Hi,
Marker interface means it doesnot have any methods.It means by implementing marker interface we need not implement any methods it just intimates to the JVM to do some specific operation.
Examples of marker interfaces are:
1)SingleThreadModel,
2)Serializable
3)Remote

Hi suresh thanks for that answer but tell me is it exact definition for Marker interface that any interface having no methods is marker interface
and is java.lang.Comparable is marker interface?

Comparable is not a marker interface as it has one method

int compareTo(Object o).
