How to use this

In shell programming in UNIX operating system I want to know how to sue the elif construct. Someone kindly provide me the syntax of using this.

elif is a combination of else and if. The general format of this construct is
if condition
then
command
command
……….
elif condition
then
command
command
……….
fi

In the above construct one can place as many elif as one wish for.
