Metadata manager and metadata reports?

Hi,
I am put into datawarehousing testing project.I ned to know some details as I am beginner here.Can someone help me in understanding what is Metadata manager and metadata reports?

Is BI reports different from metadata reports?Any good website to learn about Informatica and cognos,please advise?
