Yes writing own exceptions prove advantageous in various ways. It does not have any disadvantage associated with it. Actually it has advantage of giving understandable and customized error messages as per the user’s choice.
ofcourse there are many advantages if u create ur own exceptions coz u can have ur own choices included.
