How to do IST and IPWT testing

Hi all,
I am a new tester, Everything here is new, I have to do IST, IPWT(Pairwise testing) with the interfacing application. this is a EDB webservices, I need to test a method which client will invoke , getXXX method to retrive new field values from our database. What I need to check for in IST and what to check for in IPWT. weblogic is used,can any list out/give an example what all i need to look for, Your help is greatly appreciated.

The jargons and the short forms that you used are sounding NEW to me.:D
