Fly
There is a fly and there is a train. Train runs at 60km/hr and fly flies at 30km/hr.
The fly starts flying from a point X towards the coming train, touches it, and then fly back to X again. It again flies back to train..touches it and den fly back to X. This whole continues till the train reaches X.
The initial distance between train and X is 1km.
How much distance the fly travelled in the direction of train?

Hi
to be more precise, i can say .33 km.
It is the point where train and fly will meet(since train speed is double, so it would have covered .66 km). After this , fly wont get a chance to touch train again, since train would reach point X earlier than fly!

Read my question carefully!!!

Re: Fly
hi smart
finally after reading it again, i found that answer should be .16 km (using same concept as above).
Fly travelled approx .16 km in the direction.
Please tell its right or wrong. I will explain this only if its right!

Re: Fly
hi shenoy,
i cant tell whether it is right or not!!
i want your solution first!!

Re: Fly
hi smart , iam using the same concept which i told earlier. So i asked right or wrong!
anyway, i will explain it little more,
fly will meet the train at approx .33 km from X. Now fly will touch it and fly back towards X. When it touches, train and fly are .33 metres away from X.
Now fly and train will go in same direction. Train has to cover .33 metres to reach X. When train reaches X , i.e covers .33 km , in that much time fly will cover half of distance i.e .16 km approx.
therefore .16km!
