It depends on application and tester experience.
But one thing i want to tell is "Never all short-cuts are better to follow".
the word manual testing is self explanatory....
It involves physical / manual labour to achieve the results.
for testing to be effective and faster in manual testing depends on the type, size and the number of testers involed in the project
why don't u switch over to automation tools for rapid results.
but friend pls remember this... "Hard work is the shortcut to success!"
