As an ETL developer we have extract data from source and read data into target based on the functionality

ETL developer develop the ETL mapping or jobs to populate the data from source to target. So we can say ETL develper is the technical person who design the ETL mapping in any ETL developing tools like Informatica, datastage etc.

Paralle jobs: They are available if we have the enterprise edition installed.
They are used to process huge volumes of data using more resources.
(Mainly to load fact tables.)
Several parallel stages are available to perform the etl tasks like
Database stages,
File stages--dataset(substitute for hash file),fileset, lookup fileset etc..
Processing stages--transformer(functionality differs from server to parallel), aggregator, sort,cdc,difference,join(all join conditions and whern data is karge), merge&lookup(only inner join),surrogate key generator etc..
