I have a problem answering the TELL ME ABOUT YOURSELF question. I want to answer this question professionally and without selling myself short. Can some one help?
Just explain about your college degree perused and professional background working experience.
Please make a short note.
just be honest because you have to answer all the cross questions which he may ask relating to your explaination....
Hi,
Start with u r name, born and broughtup place, highest degree, second highest degree and achivements.
Keep it Shot and Simple... Just tell him about your self, your qualification, relevant work experience etc. If you have any special skills, you can mention them. There is not much need to include your family, birthplace or hobbies. Keep it limited to 5-6 lines. That's it...
Well tell about urself and college details and ur extra activities that u have done ....pls also include ur goals and ambitions and do not mention ur family background here as it creates a bad impression on hr manager tell if asked about family background
This question is asked for, to check ur communication skill. Actually it is a well known answer for u. So, u should answer with some guts.... because if u answer this question boldly, u can able answer the technical question with the same guts......
So, answer this question which starts ur name, Ur highest qualification, previous degrees, school studies, native place, about ur families and currently ur working company, relavant experiences..... etc..
so, tell this answer with some strong guts...... all the best for ur interview.....

This question is one of the top 10 questions asked in just about any interview setting with or without this exact phrasing. So, this is NOT the time to be shy or timid - this you your time, make use of it. Some good advise in the earlier posts but I would not talk for more than 2 or 3 minutes. Take a hard look at the job description you are applying/interviewing for, that will be your guide in preparing an objective answer. Make sure you use the buzz words and phrases used in the job description or from the interviewer itself. Quickly cover your experiences going form most recent to oldest. Do NOT linger or get caught up with any particular position or company in the past, the ideas is to get through all pertinent experiences and qualifications within the 2-3 minutes. ALWAYS end with a "is there anything in particular that you want me to elaborate on..."
Cheers mate!
Most of the things that you tell about yourself are common stuffs that everyone tells. The differentiating factor is tell about your strengths and weakness. Your strenghts should reflect team work , aptitude etc and your weakness should not look fabricated ( 100% strength and 1% weakness :) ) , weakness can be like " i take up more work at times than i can do " , this though a weakness gives one positive meaning also that you like to take up work.

hi
start with ur name. Then ur highest degree. about ur strengths, aim, objectives, likings and dislikings, ur hobbies etc. but be very careful while telling all these. u may get cross questions also. in business world family won't be considered as strength. so don't mention it as ur strength. be careful about ur hobbies. try to be honest and bold. u can include ur skills also if u have any.
hii..
I am also searching the answer to same question....
hi seaofsilence,
I can share my view for the thread
First tell your name, where are you from, your qualification is descending order(i mean highest qualification first), where you have done the college, schools..
if you have experience tell them for how many years you have in that particluar field..
if you have time tell something which is major key of work(if you hold previous experience)
Tell your skills
Tell your major + and - but be careful so that the interviewer will start cross questions
Tell about your family
start from your father, tell about your mother, maintain hierachy and then complete it
be bold, be conident and just identify what they expect from you and then major thing use your presence of mind and rock..
I hope this information helps, i am waiting for your reply
Thanks

The most often asked question in interviews. You need to have a short statement prepared in your mind. Be careful that it does not sound rehearsed. Limit it to work-related items unless instructed otherwise. Talk about things you have done and jobs you have held that relate to the position you are interviewing for. Start with the item farthest back and work up to the present.
Thanks

hi all
if some one ask about ur self... than its totaly mean ...// what u can do 4 thier company..? ..// tell him ur abilities ur positive & negative things if require .. y they hire u ...?
each topic should be to the point....////
Introduce yourself and tell you about your education and working experience. In that time you just careful to handle the words because every interviewer ask the question from your explanation.
I been married almost 25 years I have four children, I was work as Administrative clerk/account payable, Data entry, I have 6 years experience Administrative clerk and One year Account Payable, I have certification for Quickbook, Accounting (Basic Accounting Intuit) and Computer operator. I went Peirce college taking Medical Billing . In previous job I was handling, Purchase, office clerk, payroll, Scanner, Imaging, copy,
Never been asked cross questions when you give response to this question. Just they want to know brief about your experience (technical, any project management skills, onshore\offsite experience, resource management etc). I am from US and the only weirdest people to ask weirdest questions are idiot desis who try to impress their managers. So if its desi who interviews you I am sure you are out of luck. But if its american who interviews you then your chances of getting a job is 95% easier.
