Joined as Database Engineer

Hello,

This is Manu working as Oracle and SQL Server DBA for a reputed compnay in Bangalore... .... I am glad to be part of this site..

I would like to thank GeekInterview team for valuable information and services... I was able to get job in about a month.... i am oracle 9i ocp (dba ) and now also upgrade my ocp to 10g dba
i am working in ora-tech pakistan islamabad as dba from the last 6 months.and join this group now and hope that this will be very helpfull for me to share my knowledge with sceniors

Can any one please help me understand what is SQL database.I am in Testing field and I dont have any experience with SQL data base.Tomorrow I am gong to face a Testing interview in which I need to have knowledge of SQL data bases.
My question is
1.What is SQL database does that mean any data base SQL server,Oracle......
2.What is the role of a tester in data bases?Is it limited to SQL quering.
3.Is it enough if testers know sequel language......How to query and stuff or do they need to know any thing more than that.
4.If possible please send me a link of interviw questions regarding SL database

SQL ( structured Query languge ) is a language of database through which you can extrace data from any database be it oralce,db2,sybase or ms sql. In Sql You don't need to write the complete procedure to extract the data from any database . you just write the sql command. Sql does it automatically . Earlier we used to 4GL like dbase,foxpro in which you have to write down complete procedure like extracting the data from database and arranging it according to Your format. I will give u complete answere in near future.

Will you please tell me what's new in oracle 10g? You told that you have upgraded yourself to oracle 10 g
