Getting rid of task on the PC
[FONT="]You can at last get rid of tasks on the computer from the command line by using 'taskkill /pid' and the task number, or just 'tskill' and the process number.
Find that out by typing 'tasklist', which will also tell you a lot about what's going on in your system.

good tip Lokesh.. tired of killing from task manager.. some times I get access denied when trying to kill specific programs.. any thought..?

That's a good tip. I too am looking for a way to kill the system processes. (For most of my applications, windows let's me kill them :p

But,
Where will I get the task number of a perticular task, or are they numbered in a serial order.

So, type that command and see. You might as well get the process ID and more :D

it works on win Xp and 2000 too..
