difference between quality control & quality testing?
quality control (also known as verification and validation (software)) in software consists of a means of controlling the quality of software engineering products. It does this by means of tests of the software system. These tests can be either of unit tests, integration tests, or system tests. It also includes the formal proof of individual pieces of code, and the review of documents and code. It is distinct from software quality assurance which includes audits of the quality management system against a standard. Whereas software quality control is a control of products, software quality assurance is a control of processes. Quality testing is the process used to measure the quality of developed computer software. Usually, quality is constrained to correctness, completeness, security, but can also include more technical requirements such as capability, reliability, efficiency, portability, maintainability, compatibility, and usability.
Testing is a process of technical investigation, performed on behalf of stakeholders, that is intended to reveal quality-related information about the product with respect to the context in which it is intended to operate. This includes, but is not limited to, the process of executing a program or application with the intent of finding errors. Quality is not an absolute; it is value to some person. With that in mind, testing can never completely establish the correctness of arbitrary computer software; testing furnishes a criticism or comparison that compares the state and behaviour of the product against a specification.
where do qa stands in sdlc?
in software development life cycle quality assurance will happen after the development of the code. Once the coding is done and is deployed the test execution will starts. But the testing activity will start after the requirement phase. Before the product is released for testing, test plan and written test cases will be in place. After the deployment testing will be concurrently with the update in the requirement.
how automation is useful in testing?
following are some of the advantages of doing testing by usage of automation tools
1. Very fast and reusable
2. Helpful in doing regression testing
3. Automated test tools will deliver the best results when used in test plans that are repeatable.
4. Have all the benefits of test planning and modular script design.
5. Lends itself well to larger teams of analysts and programmers where test plan development is put into the more capable hands of business analysts and test automation into more skilled development personnel.
what r the factors that affects ur software?
there are lot of factors affects the software, some of them may be budget, team size, schedule, quality, effectiveness, performance, strength and subject expertise of the team members, experience factor of the team etc.,
what is location & translation testing?
testing the software for different locations specifies the location testing. For example, if a software is designed for us location and the same software will be modified for uk location with some minor changes. Testing this application for its behaviour under different locations will be done under this type of testing.
Suppose if a software is developed with the language of the software as english, and the same is converted into german, with the functionalities remains unchanged, then the testing carried out in this regard is translation testing.
