Interesting Problem
A group of friends named X, Y, Z, W and P are sitting in a park. X is sitting next to Y and Z is next to W. W is not sitting with P. P is on the left end of the bench and Z is on second position from right hand side. X is on the right hand side of Y and to the right side of P. X and Z are sitting together.
(1) Who is siiting in the center?
(2) Y is sitting away from W how many places?

P X Y Z W
(1) Who is siiting in the center? Y
(2) Y is sitting away from W how many places? 1

Re: Interesting Problem
I think Vasatha's solution is right. Well, JAmes, there is this clause in the question that says,
"X and Z are sitting together"
. Now in the solution,
P X Y Z W, X is NOT sitting next to Z.
Where as in Vasantha's solution,
p,y,x,z,w all conditions appear to be satisfied.
Correct me if I am wrong.

Re: Interesting Problem
P Y X Z W
is the correct solution

Re: Interesting Problem
I think everyone is wrong. When P is at the left end of the bench and X to the right side of Y, it should be W Z X Y P.
Hence, X is at the center and
Y is sitting 2 places away from W.

Re: Interesting Problem
Hi babu, i am sorry but i really fail to undertsand as to how p could be at the left end of the bench if the order suggested by you is - w z x y p.
Well, the answer to the question is as suggested by vasanth.
P y x z w
as the above order matches all the clauses suggested in the question.
Cheers...

Re: Interesting Problem
Hi,
The correct order of sitting will be
1 2 3 4 5
p y x z w
but not p x y z w, since x is right to both p and y.
Answers:
1. X is sitting in the center
2. Y is sitting two places away from w
-
Re: Interesting Problem
My solution is also P-Y-X-Z-W
-
Re: Interesting Problem
Its P Y X Z W as its mentioned in the question that X is on right of Y .
-
Re: Interesting Problem
Yes the series should be
P Y X Z W
So. 1. X is sitting in the center. and
2. Y is 2 places far from W.

Re: Interesting Problem
PYXZW
Y is 2 places from W
-
Re: Interesting Problem
W Z X Y P
1. X will be in the center
2. 2 places (Y will be third from W).

Re: Interesting Problem
Timmy, in the solution thay you say correct, all the conditions are not satisfying.
See, P, X, Y, Z, W (James ans)
1. X and Z are not together
2. Z is previous to W, z must be next to W isn't it.
Check my ans and correct me. PLs
