Switch from Lecturer to IT industry

I have finished my B.E (CSE) at 1995-99 second class, after that I worked as a lecturer then wrote GATE exam and finished M.E (CSE) at 2003-05, Now working as a lecturer. I want to switch over to IT industry. I have theory knowledge in Core Java and Dot.NET. Which area will be suitable for me? Some are saying that testing is good and easy to enter into IT field. I am confused.

Its fine that you have all the knowledge and qualification. But one thing i want to make clear that none of your teaching exp is going to be calculated in IT industry if you aer trying for development job. Dont think that testing is that. Also in that field there is cut throat competetion. If u want you can opt for the job of corporate trainer. In that you can earn good buks. But if want to go for pure development then u need to start from grass root level ,considering that you have all the knowlwdge and no experience. If you are ready for that then you are most welcome to IT industry.
