Can I connect to QTP machine without QC server intervention

Hi, I'm using Quality Center 9.0 and QTP that comes bundled. I am in the process of automating tests and integrating this with other automation processes. As part of this I'm creating a Webservice that other processes can call with necessary inputs (URL to QC server, name of QTP machine, what test suite to be run etc). I'm facing the following challenges and seek your expert advice.

    1. Can I connect to QTP machine without QC server intervention?
    2. How can I specify that I want to run only one particular test?
    3. How to stop a test that is in progress?
    4. How to get details of a test run? (right now I can identify whether it is pass/fail.

In the event of fail, I should know the actual reason.)Note that I'm using Quality center Open Test Architecture API to achieve this. The supplied documentation is not at all helpful. Any help is much appreciated.

To solve the queries on by one -
    1. You can efetively connect to QTP without the QC intervention. Even if you get connected to QC automatically, you can just disconnect it. But in that case you cannot run the scripts from QTP directly which are present in QC.

    2. You can run only one particular test by selecting that particular Test andclicking on "Run" in teh Test Lab's Execution grid. You you want to run all the Tests present in the Execution Grid just click on "Run Test Set"

    3. Any test in progress can be stopped just by clicking on the "Stop" button in the Test lab in QC or it can also be stopped by clicking on the stop button in the QTP directly.

    4. You can not only get the result of the Test Run as Passed / Failed but also can get the details about each and every step of execution. Just double click on the Status on the Execution Grid window. You will get the detailed result. You can also click on the "Generate Report" Button on that window to get the QTP's Report that is generated.

Thumbs up Re: Can I connect to QTP machine without QC server intervention

Whatever debleena said is true. this is the exact steps u need to follow.
Even by using multitest manager also we can run the scripts with outany intervention of QC. You get the reports testscript wise, stepwise.
