    Letters of Oracle

What does the numbers and letters represent after the name Oracle? I'm guessing that the numbers are the editions but what about the letters like in 9i and 10g?

    Re: Letters of Oracle

The numbers denote versions of ORACLE.
Well, for 'i' in 8i or 9i I dont know but
'g' in 10g stands for "GRID" i.e. Grid computing across the network.
You can create clusters in network to distributed administration using grid computing.

So I'm correct with my guess that it is the editions or versions of Oracle. I hope someone could answer what the "i" stands for.

But for us to have an idea, what is the difference between versions with "i" from versions with "g"?
