Re: What is FRS & SRS?

SRS will have all the requirements defined while FRS will have only functionality requirements defined.

other requirements could be requirements of h/w, s/w, resource, timelines, budget and much more.

Lack of WILL POWER has caused more failure than
    lack of INTELLIGENCE or ABILITY.

Both srs and fs are used in first two stages of sdlc 1. Requirement analyais & planning 2. Designing phase srs is system requirement specification which is prepared from from b.r.s in sdlc srs is entry level document for high level design and exit criteria for requirement analyais & planning from hld we prepare design document test plan and ppt which is entry criteria for low level design and exit criteria for lld is f.s or f.s rs result of lld.

Re: What is FRS & SRS?

Brs(business requirement specification) is a document which exactly contains the customer specified expections and business requirements which are completelly non technical in nature.
with this brs document we can't proceed for high level or low level designing for that we require frs(functional requirement specification)
In generally frs comes from brs only.
Brs is going to modified by tech experts/functional experts in order to convert what ever business requirements specified by the customer into more technically so that by using this frs documents high level and low level designing can be prepared more effectively
Brs is the initial stage of life cycle testing which comes under the test requirement gathering

system requirement specification contains use cases to be implemented in testing. it is usually obtained from business requirement specification.
system requirement specifications has many sub system specification which are called as functional specification.
SRS also contains non functional requirement specification like performance etc...

FRS tells means explains the sequence of operations to be followed on every single process. It is always developed by developers and engineers. It deals with requirements given by client.

SRS deals with resources provided by Company. It is developed by System Analyst. and it is also known as User Requirement Specifications.
