The solution is correct. Here is how i arrived at it

4 - 9 = -5 [LHS square of 3 is used]
-5 + 16 = 11 [LHS square of 4 is used]
11 - 25 = -14 [LHS square of 5 is used]
-14 + 36 = 22 [LHS square of 6 is used]
22 - 49 = -27 [LHS square of 7 is used]

Negate the alternate number:

4 + 1 = -5 (negate) (Take the absolute of -5 and use in next step)
5 + 2 = 7 + first (4) = 11
11 + 3 = -14 (negate)
14 + 4 = 18 + first no (4) = 22
22 + 5 = -27 (negate)
27 + 6 = 33 + first no (4) = 37
37 + 7 = -44 (negate)
44 + 8 = 52 + First no (4) = 56
56 + 9 = -65 (negate)
65 + 10 = 75 + First No (4) = 79
....so on and so forth

so the series is

4,-5,11,-14,22,-27,37,-44,56,-65,79...............
