hi shelly,
If you are new 2 java then attend a few java sessions for 1 month.Then think of certification.
If you are familiar with java then purchase a voucher from sun educational services/prometric centers from your city.Apart from this purchase books written by Kathy Sierra,Khalid Mughal.
Inorder to crack the exam one has to practice a lot rather than studying.Keep on practicing,
initially you feel cracking the exam to be hard but keep on your pace.Keep a harcopy of the objectives of the exam,Practice the exercises after every chapter.Focus on language fundamentals,oops.These are the key areas,if you are comfortable with oops then other chapters would be easy.If any heelp needed you can contact me through my mailid
