Quality Centre (QC) in simple terms is a "TEST MANAGEMENT" tool. It is a very powerful tool in terms of features and helps you manager your Entire testing process very efficiently. It helps you cover and keep a track of all Testing related activities starting from -
- Requirements Management,
- Creating testcase to
- Logging Defects.
It has 4 tabs - Requirement Planning, Test Planning, Test Execution and Defects tab.
Using Requirement tab, you can import your requirements that you have received from client / BA side into QC. In short you can manage your requirements completely.
Test Planning tab handles all your testcases. You can write new ones or upload existing ones (Only Excel and MSWord addins supported). You can set a Traceability alert to ensure that all your requirements are covered.
Test Execution deals with executing the testcases that are part of Test Plan.
Each test gets updated with status after execution. Any failed tests results in Defects that is stored in Defects tab.
As regards QTP integration, we can integrate QTP scripts to execute for QC. Results instead of being sent to LogFile, would be udpated in QC directly.
