I need to count and find out the names of items in menu, for example on a web page tool bar menu there is a menu link "Admin".When we click on Admin link it shows Add,Modify,Delete...

You need to create Description object for the links on web page then using For loop count the no.of links on the page then retrive first link content.

I guess you can do it by changing web event configuration level to high.
TOOLS>WEB EVENT RECORDING CONFIGURATION>EVENT CONFIGURATION LEVEL(Set it to high).

Make sure that whether you selected Web Add-In or not.If you don't select web Add-in then QTP doesn't record actions on web application.

If it is weblist then you can use "items count" property to get no.of items from the list.Then u need to use for loop to get the required item from the list.
