    QTP wildcards in object repository

Hi - i am having a problem using qtp to test my application. Depending on the user name used to sign into the application then the main window title bar changes - this confused qtp as it cant find the object in the object repository. It works fine if i log in as test1 as my scripts have been recorded using this user name. For example the object repository contains the following:- norwich union life db live [investments] pmanga <118> here i have signed in as myself (userid is pmanga) - but can i wildcard this? for eg. Using norwich union life db live [investments] /w(16) or a mixture of asterisks and question marks? any help much appreciated. Thanks, paul

Ahhh - actually the guru in my company has now answered this question - all you need do is click on object repository, then select the property you are interested in, then click the small tab called 'constant values'. within here you click the checkbox to make the value a regular expression and put *.* to wildcard the value. Bingo!

    Hi,

another way to handle such issues is to parameterize the particular Object Property value which is actually dynamic Property in nature.
