I can't explain 72, but after that, it is rather straight.
9*9 + 1*1 (should be 82 not 72 as provided in the question)
7*7 + 2*2
5*5 + 3*3
3*3 + 4*4
1*1 + 5*5 - This should be 26
I don't think there is any more terms to this series. And this is the most logical explaination possible.
But, I believe Suresh expects the answer 37 . Isn't it?
