Hi Guys
I have an application which is totally new to me. And i have to test that application within 6 hrs and write some test cases on it. For that application i dont have any Requirement document, use case , design document and existing test cases. i haven't came across this kind of situation before.
So please guide me how test the application and what should be my main focus

First you have taken the kts from the developers and find out wt is the major requirement, do the monky testing on that application.

If you are not having any requiremt you should try Exploratory testing. But the time is too short. so you just try adhoc testing. No other option for you.

If this situation is real u cant prepare test cases ,so prepare a checklist which covers the MAJOR functionalities and test according to that.
U can do Major Functionality testing but u cant ensure the quality.

I think Adhoc or Monkey Testing will only help in this case and you can maintain a track sheet and can specify what are the areas that covered under testing.

One more solution that comes in my mind is , we should do Risk based AD-hoc testing.
And definitely our approach should be "test to pass" approach.

Please try to get some Ramp-Up session from the person who knows this application.
If that person is busy, jump in to the application and do some monkey/adhoc testing.
