Delete Scripts occupying more memory space

Hi,

Why the larger insert and delete ( in particular) scripts occupying more disk space? While I execute a delete script, it is occupying more space(in GB) and settling in log files. So, I need to restart the service (sometimes not working out) or system to free up the log files. Is there any way to avoid this?Any other alternative to free up the disk space?

Thanks in advance,
Vishnu
