Customize Lookup Lists in MQC

I need to change the sort order for a lookup list that I created in MQC for the Defects Module. I contacted technical support, but was told there is not a way to do it not even for a list that the user creates. I can't imagine there isn't a way to add a script that would override the sort order for a user defined lookup list. Has anyone ever done this before?
