if you have some knowledge on the following cooncepts , u can go on and learn struts

1. servlets.
2. jsps.
3. xml.
4. tomcat (webserver).

otherwise aquire some basic knowle on them. then read the book called 'struts survival guide' u can easily understand and work with struts ..

There is lot of differences between struts 1.x and 2.x. If you are new to struts first learn 1.x and at the same time learn AJAX, IOC(inversion of control) design pattern and AOP(Aspect Oriented program). In that way you can easly understand Struts 2.x concepts.

It is a MVC based framework. If you know Servlet,jsp programming, you can easily write programs.
