Re: Using load runner tool
Hi Balaji,
It is true that whenever we perform Load Testing, we measure bottlenecks or Resource counters at Server side to a maximum extent. This is so because we are interested in the Response times generated by the Server. We could be measuring responses or checking bottlenecks across App Servers, WebServers as well as DB Server. But we could also measure Client Side counters like checking - Disk Space, Memory Utilization at Client End. This would give an idea about whether your Load Generator or Agent would need higher configurations to simulate better load. So, what and where we measure is dependent on the Requirement but to a large Extent we generally measure Variables at Server side. Cheers..

Re: Using load runner tool
I agree with V.Umes Krishnan. Performance/Load Testing is meant to measure how to server behaves under load since the server is the critical component in the application deployment.
Having said that, today's market trend with Web 2.0 and rich internet applications response time is no longer only a server interest and I see more and more demand for providing end to end response time that incudes client side response time and breakdown. LoadRunner Click & Script protocol has started supplying an answer for this need, but I believe it is only the beginning and it should still be improved. shlomini |

Re: Using load runner tool
Hi, guys thank you for your reply.
Here is my scenario, that i want to test both server and client side application. To test server side, i installed load generator in one pc and controller in another pc. my doubt is that whether i can test client application by using QTP in controller or load generator pc. Re: Using load runner tool
hi,
if you intend to run only a single QTP vuser then you can run QTP on the Controller machine, if you would like to run than that, then a Load Generator with terminal server should be used. LoadRunner help files describes in details how to activate the terminal server stuff. regards, shlomini |
