(1) Hr gave me 2 plastics block and told to make piramid using them , i tried but i couldn't made........

(2) gave me a problem , a man is in an island , he dont know swimming , deep water is around the island and in water there are sharks & Crocodiles so if he goes in water they will eat him, there is fire broked in island he has to save himself , he is in east end and air is flowing from west to east direction and fire will reach east end within half-an-hour ......how he will save himself?.......

i told him if he can go to west end he can save himself, becoz air is flowing from west to east, so fire will start dimming in west end....but HR was not satisfied with my answer......
so freind if u know please tell me right solution of these puzzles....and how important to give correct answer of puzzles to make through infy interview

Hi! its very easy to make pyramid using two plastic block./\ just cut the plastic block . firstly put any one corner of plastic block on floor, so the other end of block will be on roof side /\. and start cutting the block from exactly centre position of roof side. as shown above. and then you will have two pyramid from one block. do same with other block. and then you will have two more pyramid. i think its enought to make pyramid.

no problem for the man in island. shark and crocodile dont like each other . they will fight and both of them will die. and then the person can sit on the bank of sea, and he can save himself from the fire coming from other side.

Hi Ravi,

How much sure we can assume that both the shark and the crocodile will die. I think there will also be some other solution for this.

Regards,
Ganesan

Re: Puzzle asked in Infosys campus interview

Question 1> What was the shape of the plastic blocks?
Can you make any modifications on them like cutting?

Question 2>
Idea #1:
a> Sharks cannot come onto the island, while crocs may come.

b> Fire is in the center of the island [as the question is
"broken in the island"]. Fire will take 30 min to reach
east end. How about west end, probably there is no fire at all,
and may not catch fire as wind is flowing from west to east
only.

c> So to reach the other end of the island, there is one
way to go around the island to the western side.

Idea #2:
Lets divide the time into 10 minutes slots.
At Time 0 - the fire is in the middle,
Time10 - it has advanced by 10 min of burning area - call it area X,
Time20 - it has advanced by another 10 minutes - call it area Y and
finally, at Time30 - it burns the rest of the area - call it Z.
Burning X,Y and Z area, the island gets burnt and you need escape or save yourself, before that.

Now, While the fire is still in the middle of the island, take some twigs to make a torch and better make it fast. Light up the torch using the fire and now run towards the east end of the island.

When near the eastern end, set fire to a smaller place there. Its the area Z which the fire would burn. For assumptions and calculations, let assume that this area Z will completely burn out in 10 minutes. [guess, that much space should be enough save yourself]. While Area X is getting burnt, you have now burnt area Z. You can stay safely in Area Y.

Now run towards the other end of area Z and set fire there, so that you burn it faster instead of waiting for 5/10 minutes. [Pro-active you see, we don't like to just sit and wait for a job to be complete. if you are not pro-active, you get burnt anyway, :P ]

So this area Z will become clear and you can step into it safely. [ May be you can also collect some water by dripping your shirt and pant to wet the area. oh! don't worry nobody is seeing you, remember you don't have company ]. By Time10, the fire has burnt area X and you have burnt area Z. Now only area Y is left which the fire will burn it and you can safe-guard yourself in area Z and play in the water. The end result is you are saved and you have burnt the island 10 minutes earlier.

Just in case to avoid the blisters, better run and make the area wet, so that you don't burn your feet. May be you can also throw burning branches at the crocodiles and incite them. If they come near, then its another problem how you save from them? :P Good Luck.

Hopefully, this can help. Any other ideas ?
