    Re: Guidelines for Manual Testing

    Hi

This is a very interesting article. I was wondering though if there is an industry standard to define the timescales of testing? Example, 20 % of the development days??

Do you know where I can find a definitive answer on this?

    Hi Raj,

I worked for Peoplesoft-testing for one year.

Though I dont know much about SAP, I assume that the testing for it would remain same like Peoplesoft as it belongs to the same family. Normally in Peoplesoft all functionalities of ERP are classified as a seperate module. For example HRMS, which includes Payroll, Benefits, Time and Labor etc and Finance which includes Global ledger, Account Payable, Asset Management etc. It depends on which domain and module you are going to work.

Let us assume that you are working for HRMS-Global Payroll implementation, you need to know these things

    1. In and out functionality of Global Payroll.
    2. Read the BRD OR Functional Specification carefully.
    3. Imagine what all the test scenarios you can write for each and every requirements.
    4. Break up the scenarios into n number of test cases. Include negative test cases also.
    5. Be good in navigations.

If you are good in functionalities apparently you can enhance your career as a Peoplesoft functional consultant.

Between very good material. Thanks to the thread author.

    Cheers,
    Sridhar.

    Hi,

    Hearty Welcome to our forum.

Pilot testing involves having a group of end users try the system prior to its full deployment in order to give feedback on IIS 5.0 features and functions.

The level of pilot testing you want to perform depends on the size and scope of your migration project. For larger projects, a formal, carefully planned pilot is essential.

For any size project, its good to have selected end users test the system prior to full deployment

During the initial, pre-pilot phase you can select a small group of technically savvy users to try out the technology.

You probably wont want to provide support during this phase, because it can draw resources away from system development and burden your schedule.

    Regards,
    Rijus.
