Some companies no longer sponsor four-year college programs because they believe they receive more "bang for their buck" with skills certification programs. For companies hiring new employee, skill certification can reduce job search costs. Individuals who possess certification have demonstrated: (1) an accumulation of knowledge; (2) the ability to apply that knowledge;(3) self-motivation. Objectives and benefits of certification qai's certified software test engineer program is intended to establish standards for initial qualification and provide direction for the testing function through an aggressive educational program. The certification helps: define the tasks associated with the test function to evaluate mastery of the test function. Demonstrate an individual's willingness to improve professionally. Acknowledge attainment of an acceptable standard of professional competency. Aid organizations in selecting and promoting qualified individuals. Professional code of conduct the professional code of conduct is designed to promote and maintain the highest standards of performance and personal conduct among certified software test engineers. The code requires that certified software test engineers will: maintain and improve their professional competency through continuing education. Cooperate in the development and interchange of knowledge for mutual professional benefit. Maintain high professional standards of moral responsibility, character, and business integrity. Continuing education continuing education will be required to ensure that certificate holders maintain up-to-date technical knowledge and professional capacity. Certificate holders will need to qualify for re-certification every three years after becoming certified. The re-certification provision will require forty hours per year of continuing professional education as specified by the certification board. Emphasis is on skill improvement, not specific programs. Learning experience can be at company site, through college programs, public and private seminars, conferences, and self-study programs. How to apply those meeting the requirements(two years of experience and proficiency in six skills) should complete and mail the certification application form along with the skills proficiency form with $175.00 fee to: quality assurance institute certification program manager 7575 dr. Philips blvd., suite 350 orlando fl 32819-7273 applications will be acknowledged within 60 days of receipt. A cste certificate will be issued within 30 days of approval. If the application is rejected, the fee will be refunded, less a $25.00 processing fee. Note: all applications received will be treated as confidential.
