query calculation is used to deal with tables(to perform any changes to query)
Layout calculations can be used to perform any changes regards to appearance of reports

Query Calcualtion is used to perform Data Scrubbing.
Layout Calcuation is used to provide run time information, but not used to perform any operation on the data.
