In loadRunner or any tools, you can't differentiate which to learn and which to leave because all components works all together.
It's not theroy for exam, that you can leave a part and learn some part. Still keep stress on virtual users and result analysis.

There are no specifices to learn. But I would recommend a good understanding of how the tool work then followed by protocols, servers and network things. It's a learning of everything.
I've actually written a blog (below link) with regards to LoadRunner. I wouldn't say it have everything but at least you can get a rough idea of what to look out for. http:// loadrunnertnt DOT blogspot DOT com/2007/05/products-loadrunner DOT html Start with the article that move on to other relating topics such as understanding of protocol and monitoring techniques.
