Help me know about this term Flashback Query

Can someone tell me about Flashback Query? I came across this term but could not figure out the usage and features of this. Will it help in giving report about changes made to objects say tables in different time period? Correct me if I am wrong

Flashback Query has features to perform comparative reporting at different periods of time and helps in recovery from logical corruptions. But important point to consider is Flashback Query does not reverse DDL operations such as DROP, only DML alterations to the data.
