It will really a good experience for a tester who will test it.

Data encryption and data decryption always work according to specified algorithm.So, when test cases will be written for it, it will according to algorithm, or we can say that algorithm is a system to encrypt and decrypt the data which we have to test.

Good answer :-) !!!
Its also role specific with respect to application. For ex if u are testing any Credit Card related app then if user has privileges (Role Specific) to view the Credit Card no. user can view the same other wise they will be encrypted.
