Reg : How to partion hard disk ?

Hi

i have bought a new laptop and it has windows vita home prmium loaded on it.. i wud like to load linux ( ubuntu ) and need to partition my hardisk .

Is there anyway i can partion the hardisk without loosing the Vista OS.

You can use PartitionMagic http://www.powerquest.com/partitionmagic/ or similar partition tools ie. to partition and resize existing partitions without data loss. Please backup your all important data to CD or any other device but not to other partitions in the same HardDisk before using any of these tools.

its possible using fdisk,
run this at command prompt, to display the already existing partitions choose option as 4. To create a new partition choose 1 as the option. and create new primary or logical partition.

In normal case there would be no free space on hard disk as the dealer has already loaded windows and there is no reason to leave unpartitioned free space. So, you cant use fdisk or such utilities to repartition without data loss. Please go for Partition Magic or similar tools which can resize partition without data loss.
