hi i want to know how many test cases can test engineer write in day .

the number of testcases depends on various parameters such as it depends on the requirments,use cases and is not fixed that to write a particular number of testcases per day, also depends on the types of test followed,the technique followed,also depends on the schedule alloted for testing.

I agree with prasad i want to add that the no. of test cases will also depends on the complexity of the application

a) Based on the functionality the no.of test cases we can write in a day.If u are having 100% req knowledge u can able to write nearly 100 test cases in working hours i.e. 7 to 8 hours.If functional req are not understood by you it may lead to writing of wrong test cases.

No of test cases does not matter,
the thing matter is, how much functionality you cover with minimum no. of test cases.
