PeopleSoft (CRM) Application Development / Architecture

    Hello PeopleSoft Experts!

I am trying to learn as much as possible in a short amount of time about PeopleSoft CRM and I am seeking information about the development of CRM applications within PeopleSoft. I work in my company's HR dept. and we are looking into obtaining a PeopleSoft Developer but we do not know where to start sourcing that skill set. My list of questions are below:

    1. Is there a software language (C#/Java/C++ etc..) that is specific to PeopleSoft CRM applications that must be used in order to program these applications? Can any language be used to program / develop applications in PeopleSoft?

    2. What is People Tools? Does your Developer have to use People Tools in order to develop / program software applications in PeopleSoft versions (CRM)?

    3. Can a .NET developer that is used to developing in .NET framework pick up quickly on PeopleSoft application development?

    4. Can a senior PeopleSoft Developer who has experience in other modules under the PeopleSoft umbrella but no experience with the PeopleSoft CRM module be able to develop the CRM module or pick up on it quickly?

Any information related to these questions would be most helpful! I have textbook definitions to keep me busy for hours but I have no clue where to begin learning about PeopleSoft in general and specifically PeopleSoft CRM.

    Thanks!

Re: PeopleSoft (CRM) Application Development / Architecture

Hello, People soft is a CRM package and you will need to learn peoplecode. Peoplecode is object-oriented proprietary language used to express business logic for PeopleSoft applications. PeopleCode syntax resembles other programming languages. Some aspects of the PeopleCode language, however, are specifically related to the PeopleTools environment. However, the basic fundamentals of objects and classes are the same as in Java language. If you know Java, you can learn peoplecode with less amount for effort.

You need to understand more about schema and how to implement solutions specific to the business needs. Analytical, problem solving, and evaluation skills are must.

    Hope this helps

    Thanks,
    Suji
