    Population Increase

    If say in 1999 population is 50000 and in 2003 its 79536, then % increase is 59 % is it correct? Justify

    Yes, that is correct.

    Assuming,
    a = 50000
    b = 79536

    %change = (b-a)/a * 100 = (79536 - 50000)/50000 * 100 = 59.07%

    It's similar to calculating your profit/loss percentage. %PL = (SP - CP)/CP * 100, where SP = Selling Price, CP = Cost Price.

    Yes it is correct. Because the increse is of 29536, which is 59% of 50000.

    Yes - it's 59%. Unfortunately, the available water and food supply hasn't increased by a similar % so these people are facing problems.
