Find the number I think of a positive number, add one, multiply my answer by itself, take away twice the number I first thought of, and my answer is 26. What number did I think of?

Re: Find the number The answer is 5. My Solution: x = unknown number... According your clue, form one equation. (x+1)(x+1) - 2x = 26 If you simplify this equation, you will get a result 5. --------------------- suresh
