Let me share with everybody some info about the iseb sample paper 1 for the test management practitioner exam which i ordered from iseb and paid £20 for it. The sample paper 1 consists of 15 a4 pages. I think it gives a general idea about how the exam is structured, types of questions one can expect and what sort of answers they want us to give them. It also includes marking weight for each question, which is also useful information. To sum up, i guess it is useful to have this piece of info but in my view it should really be included in the exam price which is already quite high...

Re: Iseb practitioner certificate in test management sample paper
Hi,
Let me share with you my exam experience from the ISEB Practitioner Certificate in Test Management exam that I took on 11 Dec 2009. In my view, it was very similar in structure and types of questions to the ISEB sample paper. So, from that perspective there were no surprises at the exam. As for the required knowledge, in my opinion, the Practitioner exam is quite similar to the Intermediate one. Perhaps, the only difference is that you need active knowledge of all relevant knowledge/topic areas when you take the Practitioner exam; whereas at the Intermediate exam, you are OK with passive knowledge as you have multiple choice questions in the Intermediate one and you know that always one of them is the correct one unlike it is the case with the Practitioner one where there are potentially many correct answers to each question. Therefore, in my view, the Practitioner exam format is very subjective to mark as marking will depend on a marker's unique worldview, i.e. his or her testing experience, knowledge acquired, training attended, testing books read etc. In addition to the subjectivity issue, I did not like the fact that the Practitioner exam is a hand-written exam, which I personally find a bit challenging having been used to typing everything for many years now, which I believe is the case for many of us nowadays. So I can only hope that my handwriting will be readable enough for the marker to understand what I was talking about in my answers... :-) When you take the exam, it is all about good time management throughout the exam, i.e. strictly allocate the same time to each question as every question has the same marking weight (25 marks). It is so easy to forget about the time as you can write much more in each question than the allocated time for the exam allows you... I wish you the very best of luck when you take the Practitioner exam! Tom P.S. Do not forget to share your own exam experience after you take it... :-) Last edited by Tomas Kubin; 12-11-2009 at 11:46 PM. Reason: typos removal |
