Linux install-newbie

Hi-I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop with Vista on it, trying to do a dual boot with Fedora. Booting from the CD, it goes through language and keyboard setup, then asks where the packets are located for installation. I select the CD ROM, but it comes back with same message.

What am I missing or doing wrong? I have not experience with Linux and am installing this for a class!

Thank you
Beth

Re: Linux install-newbie

Have you made sure that there is enough free space to create a Fedora partition? Which version of Fedora? Here is a link with the screenshots step by step...

Check out what you are doing wrong?

Have you downloaded the correct version of the iso image. There is a local install or a net install... You may be having the wrong iso image on your cd... Check that also.

More details from you wud be required to troubleshoot.

Re: Linux install-newbie

Hi Beth,

Try to trobleshoot from the basic things, Try to check u r dvd drive and linux cd is working properly.

In specifying installation method option ,type method=cdrom & try again.
I think its definitly due to the lack of installation source .

Although u r a newbe in linux , go though the linux installation manual attached below, it ll be helpful to u.Let me know here u r pblm solved or not.

Re: Linux install-newbie

Well, it looks like my previous replies haven't made through. Do check your installation disks if they are loaded with the right images.

Google for screenshots of the installation, which will help you.
