First of all Let me know u r query is about Subnetmask or Broadcastmask. Bcoz if u want to find out the subnet mask there is no need to to use the ping command. The ping command can be used to find out Access(Network), Time & Distance(Packets) & Domain IP Address. If u have a knowledge of ip address of host , u can easily find out subnetmask. As far as i know ping command can't be used to obtain the subnetmask. But if it is Broadcast mask the thing is entirerly different. If u want to find out the subnetmask in windows, run the command prompt & type ipconfig /all In Linux, the command is ifconfig-a If u have the knowledge of ip address , Its easy to find out the subnetmask. Look at the first octet, identify the class then u ll get subnetmask. Regards, Rijus. ------ Real Inspirational Journey.........Unanimously & Sincerely. |
