Hi,
I plan to take the ISEB Practitioner Certificate in Test Management exam in London on Fri 11th December 2009. I would like to prepare for it as effectively as possible - i.e. best materials, books, sample papers etc. I took my Intermediate Certificate on 28th October 2009 (on the very day of writing and posting this thread) in London and even though I have not obviously received my results yet, I am quite confident that I have passed the exam. I found the Intermediate certificate only slightly more difficult than the Foundation, which in my view was very easy to pass (in Sep 2009). It would be great if somebody who has taken the Practitioner exam could share his or her experience preparation-wise and exam-wise with me. Please do contact me if you also plan to take the Practitioner on the same date, 11th Dec 2009, in London! We could arrange a study session together as well as give each other own insights into study materials. Thank you for any replies and comments on my thread in advance! Re: ISEB Practitioner Certificate in Test Management exam on 11 Dec 2009, London, UK
Hi Tom,
I am also planning to take this exam if I feel confident that I have studied enough. I am planning to order a past paper from the ISEB examination board. I am in contact with them to see if the paper will also include a marking scheme as it should provide some guidance as to what kind of answers are expected as I am assuming the questions will be open ended. I am also waiting for the ISEB Intermediate exam but I am confident I should pass. Keep in touch. Are you based in London somewhere? Irfan. |

Re: ISEB Practitioner Certificate in Test Management exam on 11 Dec 2009, London, UK
Hi Irfan,
I am sure you have passed the Intermediate Certificate exam and you will be informed about your results very soon. I received my Intermediate Certificate results on Monday 2 Nov (exam taken on Wed 28 Oct in London). As I have passed the Intermediate Certificate (scoring 19), I have just registered for the Practitioner (by sending the filled-in registration form to Swindon by Royal Mail). Unfortunately, unlike the Foundation and Intermediate certificates, you cannot register for the Practitioner exam online, which is very strange. By the way, what books do you plan to use when you prepare for the Practitioner? Can you please point me to the weblink from where you can order the sample paper for the Practitioner exam? Many thanks for your reply and fingers crossed! Tom P.S. I live in Hatfield, Herts, which is about 30min by train to the North from Kings Cross. It is no problem for me to meet you up in London sometime prior to the Practitioner exam date to catch up and do some revision together. :-) |

Re: ISEB Practitioner Certificate in Test Management exam on 11 Dec 2009, London, UK
Hi Tomas,
Congratulations on your result. Please see information below to obtain a sample ISEB practitioner paper in Test Management. They will take a charge of £20 pounds that is unless you are a member of BCS then you may get a discount. I am assuming you are not attending any courses for the exam and doing self study? I have not booked as of yet as I am contemplating on the fact if I will be able to study all the topics as detailed in the syllabus by the 11th December and obviously need to wait for my official results for the intermediate exam. I can't afford to go any courses at the moment so I am going to try to self study. I have brought a book 'Managing the Test Process' by Rex black but will need to see if it covers all topics as in the syllabus. Going through I am sure this exam is not going to be easy as the first two. If you are not going on a course how you going to study for it? Are you on linkedin? Hope the above helps. Re: ISEB Practitioner Certificate in Test Management exam on 11 Dec 2009, London, UK
Hi Guys,
I too have applied for the ISEB Practitioner Exam (Test Analyst) due to be conducted on 11th Dec in London. I live in Norwich.I just dont know what material to consult. As a starting point, i have purchased 'The Testing Practitioner' by Eric V Veenendaal. I read a lot about this book and that it helps in preparing for the Practitioner Exam. We can definitely order the sample papers from BCS. They should be helpful. Apart from this, we can think of ordering material from Top Training Products / Study Guides for ISEB, ISTQB, CTFL and ASTQB Certification Exams for Software Testers and QA Testers | Universalexams.com It costs £120, but im not sure about the quality and content of the material. My situation is quiet desperate since i havent started preparing and only 30 days left. Let me know how you guys have been preparing for the exam lately. Tanmay |

Re: ISEB Practitioner Certificate in Test Management exam on 11 Dec 2009, London, UK
Hi guys, i am pleased to hear that both of you are signing up for the iseb practitioner exam on 11 dec. We have one month to prepare, which i believe should be enough. I have ordered the practitioner sample paper from iseb (£20), which should hopefully give me some idea what kind of answers they expect from us. I am not doing any prep course as i think it is unnecessary to pay so much money for it when you can self-prepare using right materials. Apart for the two iseb books (foundation and intermediate), i am now reading the following two books, which should be sufficient for the exam: software testing practice: test management by istqb, rockynook computing managing the testing process, 3rd edition by wiley please note, however, that i am preparing for the test management exam only. The test analyst path may require different study materials! i would happy to meet up with anybody who takes the exam on 11 dec prior to the exam for a study/revision session in london. Send me a private message with contact details if you are interested. Good luck with the preparation! tom
