Developer to DBA
Hi
I am a BE computer science graduate with 3+ years of experience. I am presently working in pro*C, Oracle PL/SQL development projects with retail financial services as functional domain. I would like to shift my technical domain towards database administration. Would like to know if this is a good time for me to change my technical domain and pursue as a DBA fresher. Will there be good job openings in DBA field on the long run. Which one is best administrative tool (DB2 or oracle). Will there be good on-site opportunities and better salary structure for DBAs. My friends suggested me to master some ETL tools to fetch on-site opportunities. Expecting your best guidance on this. |

Re: Developer to DBA
Hello,
I would learn new ETL tools and increase knowledge in data warehousing and also master advanced pl/sql in Oracle. In the mean time gain DBA skills since many of the DBA's are really good in programming as well. that should open the door for future to change your career to DBA and getting on site opportunities. Oracle has good market share compared to Db2. Thanks, |
