I think the best option is to talk in person and tell him the consequences of the option he is choosing.Tell him how he, you and others are getting effected. As Deepa said, Tell him the advantages and disadvantages of both the cases. Even if he is not getting ready take the help of the person he is close to, so you both can persuade him effectively.
