    QTP and Firefox

    Hi,

    I created/tested/ran a script successfully against IE. I ran the same script against Firefox and the script was failing. It turned out that QTP didn't recognize any object in OR. I verified a object and found out that the object is window object instead of web object - see attachment.

    Am I not doing something correctly? or this is the way QTP work between IE and FF?

    My RO was created with IE, is there a way I can manipulate it to be working with FF?

    Please response.

    Re: QTP and Firefox

    hai friend,

    Root cause for your problem may be

    1. Firefox version is greater than what QTP will support

    One solution to this problem is install the apt version of Firefox what QTP supports else upgrade QTP.

    Thanks

    Re: QTP and Firefox

    Hi All,

    I tried running a script that was recorded in IE v7 on Firefox 3.6.
    QTP version 9.5.
    The script does not run. there are Obj identification issues. Has anybody worked on such an environment before?

    Also, is there any add on with which QTP can identify objects in FF?

    Re: QTP and Firefox

    Hi All,
    QTP recognizes the Firefox Application Objects as normal Web Objects if we enable the QuickTest Professional X.X Plugin in the Mozilla.

    Follow the below mentioned steps to re-install the QTP Add-on

    1. Open the folder \bin\Mozilla
    2. Based on your version of Firefox open the QTP Agent folder for the same.
    For me the folder was AgentPlugInFireFox30
    3. Locate the ‘install.rdf’ file within the Agent folder. Open the file in a notepad. A sample file is shown below

    {6672B787-A178-45d3-B11D-E905BBCCC8C4}
    QuickTest Professional 10.0 PlugIn
    10.0
    Mercury Interactive Corp.
    QuickTest Professional 10.0 PlugIn for Firefox 3.x

    {ec8030f7-c20a-464f-9b0e-13a3a9e97384}
    3.0
    3.0.*

    4. Note down the id from the first node in the XML. ID noticed is “{6672B787-A178-45d3-B11D-E905BBCCC8C4}” as per the XML shown above
    5. Now open Firefox and go to Tools -> Add-ons from the menu.
    6. If you see a “QuickTest Professional X.X Plugin“, click on the uninstall button.
    7. Open the “\extensions” folder and delete any file which has the file name as the ID we noticed in Step4
    8. After deleting the file, open firefox once and close it.
    9. Open the “\extensions” folder again and create a new file with name as the ID we noticed in Step 4.
    10. Open the file we created in Step9 in a notepad.
    Enter the complete path of the Agent folder we used in Step. For example - “C:\Program Files\HP\QuickTest Professional\bin\Mozilla\AgentPlugInFireFox30“.
    11. Save the file and launch a new firefox browser. Go to Tools -> Add-ons and make sure the new “QuickTest Professional X.X Plugin” is enabled.

    Try recognizing the objects now with QTP and it will identify the objects as Browser.
    In case the object is still identified as Window, make sure your firefox version is supported by the current QTP version.

    Please let me know if you still require more information on this..

    I tried it and it was working fine..

    Thanks
    Mani

    [QUOTE=learqtptesting;42463]Hi,

    May be your using FF 3.6, Do the same with <=FF 3.0
    It will not support Firefox 3.6 and after Installation of FF 3.0 (below) version, run the script it will work.

    Thanks

    HI Mani,
    i just tried to do below steps with qtp 11 and ff3.6
    In step 9, you mentioned create a file with the same as the ID. When you say create file, is it a folder or .txt file. I created a txt file and saved the location of the addin found in qtp folder. I guess i am doing wrong here. can you please give me the steps here?

    thanks,
